Last week, I found myself dining al fresco, sitting alone, at one of Mumbai’s highest rooftop bars with stunning views of the Mumbai’s skyline and coastline, surrounded with exotic nibbles & sipping a specially crafted concoction.
There are also times when I find a particular corner where nobody can see me and I propel my willpower to discipline myself to sit and adore my food and reconnoitre people around me rather than slipping back into the comforting company of constantly scrolling sites updating in real time.
I had chosen not to be overloaded by someone else’s will, coz if I had I might have had to obediently walk around a mall, play-acted to enjoy clothes shopping or get “mollycoddled” somewhere.
Instead, I chose to sit in the wind, enjoying stunning views occasionally eavesdropping on some funny awkward date convos.
It was glorious !
I believe, that to be able to take in your eating environment alone; and to focus on what you’re relishing, is one of the featured qualities of being emotionally and intellectually independent..
You are free from inane discussions of ordering and sharing dishes that are disrelishing, free from small talk, free from having a need to spend time with someone for the sake of killing it.
Most importantly, you’re giving yourself pleasure. You’re entertaining yourself. You are spending quality time with ------YOURSELF.
You’re probably missing out on something very beautiful if you can’t feel full on your own.
